Online Therapy for Men, Teens & Athletes in California
My Philosophy: Reconnecting You to Your Most Authentic Self
Hi, I’m Kamal, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT). It’s my passion to facilitate a profound sense of reconnection in the lives of my clients. I believe that many of the struggles we face as humans boil down to a disconnection from ourselves. Reconnecting—whether through facilitating your own healing or receiving support from others—allows us to live more meaningfully and authentically. As a therapist, I approach every session with deep care and attention, appreciative of the complexity of human relationships and the human mind, both its limitations and its immense potential. Many of my clients find my engaged approach refreshing; I don't just sit and nod – I actively participate in creating a meaningful space where you can truly process and grow.
My Journey: From Athlete to Dedicated Therapist
I deeply understand the journey of navigating multiple identities and the challenges of belonging. Throughout my adolescence, I grappled with insecurities, straddling cultural lines. My active participation in sports like basketball and track became a powerful avenue for establishing my identity and finding community. This personal experience in athletics laid the groundwork for my dedication to sports psychology and performance anxiety support for athletes today.
My interest in the human condition deepened in college, leading me to pursue psychology in my graduate studies. My own journey through personal therapy at 27 became a profound turning point, allowing me to process identity-related challenges and solidifying my commitment to helping others navigate their own paths to healing. This personal connection fuels my empathetic and engaged approach to individual therapy.
Specialized Therapy for Men, Teens, and Athletes
I specialize in working with men, teens, and athletes because I identify with these groups in a way that allows me to meaningfully connect with clients. As an athlete, I relate directly to issues of performance anxiety. As someone who has personally navigated depression and anxiety, I know what it takes to manage disruptive symptoms effectively. And as a husband and father, I identify with the struggles of prioritizing relationships and maintaining work-life balance, making me particularly well-suited for men's therapy and couples counseling.
